Ran across !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in my never ending Craigslist search for cars that I can’t afford. Besides the steering wheel, it all looks great.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Maybe I can convince my dad to take a look at it. He is desperately in need of a new DD.

Not bad, but considering the mileage, i’d gladly pay 3500 and trow away the Ebay steering wheel/hub combo in favor of something less tacky.

This car is in need of a classy steering wheel. Possibly a Nardi.

Everything except the wheel which is absolutely terrible.
He said he’s willing to consider trades, I wonder if an M3 would work. Why the fuck is that thought actually circling around in my head...

Agreed. That wheel is garbage.
You ought to shoot him an email with an offer. Never hurts to ask!

I wonder if that is a 325e with the low revving engine. The red line on the tach is 5,500 and teh floor mats say 325e as well. If the engine was upgraded, it might not be bad, but with that low revving engine, it would really sap all of the fun out of the car. You might as well drive a diesel.

indeed. even if you want something red and flashy there are better ways to go about it

Good catch! I didn’t even notice the tach at first. I’ve heard the e should be avoided cause it’s just no fun.

I’d sleep well if I bought it for $4k. Maybe like $3800 so that I’d be back at the original asking price after tax.
The only thing that would bother me are the stained cloth seats. I’d definitely look into spending $1-2k to have them redone in leather. It would probably add about that to the car.

While the e engine is lower revving, it feels nothin like a diesel. It still ha 125 hp in stock form which feels good for a lighting car. These engines are also easy to mod.

They're still plenty of fun on account of the E30 handling. You can also easily get them up to 325i power numbers. They don't drive like diesels. I've owned a 325e and a 335d (which while a diesel also is pretty quick).

I was trying to decide. Trunk badge looks like ‘325’ which indicates the i, although the e would be easy to remove...

Someday we’re going to run out of E30s to ruin...
If the thing is actually straight and the underside isn’t destroyed from being lowered, it could be a good deal. It’s pre-1988 ‘e’ with its 4500 rpm redline, but with a stick they’re fun little cars. It will need a steering wheel and a stock airbox, and a set of E30 325is springs. Put the rear seat back in, because those 10 pounds aren’t going to make fuckall of a difference, even in a 325e.
Check the timing belt, though I’d wager a nickel that was replaced when the “engine internals were redone” (but not in that order). The rest of the driveline is bulletproof, but likely will ooze after a time. There’s a chance it has an LSD, as it was a standalone option in those days.
Go buy this car, and just as you’re leaving - after the paperwork has been done - kick the seller square in the gonads for mucking up a nice little E30.
